Jiahe Mei
Chinese Program
Jiahe Mei is a Ph.D. candidate working on modern Chinese literature and media culture. Her research interests lie at the intersections of media technology, medical knowledge, and literary forms, drawing on critical disability studies to examine how perceptual norms were constructed and contested in twentieth-century China. She has articles forthcoming in Modern Chinese Literature and Culture, Technology and Culture, and Journal of Chinese Cinemas, and is currently completing her dissertation, tentatively titled: “Beyond Common Sense: Perceptual Disabilities and Chinese Literary Modernity.”
