Upon his retirement from Berkeley in 2007, Jeffrey Riegel took up the position of Professor and Head of School in the School of Languages and Cultures at the University of Sydney. He has recently published articles on early Confucian thought, the burial of the First Emperor, and the 18th century poet Yuan Mei. His recently completed translation of the ethical and political chapters of the Mozi will appear in late 2011 or early 2012 and he is currently working on a book-length study of Confucius’s thought for Polity Press. Professor Riegel’s work at the University of Sydney takes him frequently to China. In 2011 he will be a Visiting Professor at Fudan University in Shanghai and a Visiting Scholar at the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences. He recently bought a home in Suzhou and plans in the future to divide his time between Berkeley, Suzhou, and Sydney.
