Jeannette Pei-san Ng
After a B.A. in English literature from the University of Oxford, United Kingdom, Jeannette went on to a Masters in English at the National University of Singapore, and a second M.A. in Chinese literature from San Francisco State University. Focusing on late imperial and Republican China, Jeannette's research interests broadly encompass literary, cultural, and intellectual history, and their intersections with anthropology and science studies. Themes of interest include representations of embodiment, science and imagination, constructions of identity, local epistemologies, and vernacular notions of health and medicine. She is currently writing her dissertation, exploring a cultural history of the body as reflected through discursive and fictional writings in Chinese martial arts culture (1850-1940).
